Job Overview

Cyrrus are currently looking to recruit two Airspace Change Consultants.  A full-time established role and a full-time one year fixed term role to cover maternity leave.

The role of Airspace Change Consultant is to lead Airspace Change Projects (ACPs) for Airport clients of varying sizes and complexities, liaising with internal and external stakeholders including the Regulator and the development of the necessary documentation in accordance with CAP 1616 requirements.

The purpose of the role is to lead delivery of ACPs for Cyrrus, providing customers with a comprehensive ACP service that satisfy their individual requirements and exceeds expectations.

The post holder is responsible to the Executive Director in the delivery of the role

Accountabilities / Main Responsibilities

Core tasks and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Utilise Airspace Change Management expertise to support and deliver solutions to meet customer requirements including:
    • Airspace Change-related projects
    • CAP 1616 applications
    • Air Navigation Service Provision (ANSP) liaison
    • IFP design commissions
    • Wind energy projects
  • Support commercial bids for projects requiring Airspace Change and ATM input.
  • Establish and maintain a thorough understanding of the airspace change process (as set out in CAP 1616) and associated policy issued by DfT and UK CAA.
  • Produce CAP1616 documents / reports appropriate to scope and technical requirements.
  • Provide operational aviation input and guidance in support of related safety management and aerodrome-related projects.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Airspace and ATM in the UK and Europe including policy changes resulting from ICAO, EASA and UK legislation.
  • Maintain and sustain relationships with clients.
  • Undertake any other duty/activity and reasonable requests from your line manager that you are deemed to have the necessary skills to complete.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Aviation domain knowledge/experience within the UK.
  • Good understanding of the UK Airspace Modernisation Strategy and its applicability to airport operations.
  • Thorough understanding of the UK Airspace Change Process (CAP 1616)
  • A working knowledge of the Gunning Principles and associated statutory obligations for public consultation.
  • An appreciation of political dimensions to consultation and engagement for ACPs.
  • Awareness of existing and emerging ATM technology systems.
  • Working knowledge of Safety Management Systems.
  • Able to prioritise work requirements according to task importance and timescales.
  • Ability to develop solutions as well as identify problems.
  • Strong command of English language, both oral and written.
  • MS Office Computing Skills (Software).
  • To comply with UK Health and Safety Management legislation.
  • An awareness of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) best practice.
